Suspect arrested in South Salt Lake man's death

SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A man is in custody in connection with the murder of a South Salt Lake man earlier this week, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Steven Leon Villiard, 64, was found shot to death in his home on Monday.

Police say on Wednesday Jason James Davis, 36, confessed to robbing and shooting Villiard and was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm by a restricted person.

Officers say they also have the weapon used in the murder.

South Salt Lake police say that Villiard was targeted but they have not released a motive for the crime.
