SALT LAKE CITY -- KSL News was the first to tell you about one woman's lawsuit that accuses Intermountain Healthcare of overcharging her through her insurance provider.
In December, a district judge agreed to let former Intermountain patients going as far back as 1997 to sue for refunds. Intermountain appealed that decision, but the appeal has been denied.
The plaintiff's attorney says that means the lawsuit can now move to class action status.
"There are potentially tens of thousands, perhaps more, perhaps hundreds of thousands of people out there who have no idea that they have been wronged," says attorney Terry Welch.
Welch tells us Intermountain will now have to provide financial and billing information to his firm so they can notify potential members of the class action suit.
