SOUTH SALT LAKE -- Police in South Salt Lake are hoping surveillance video from a gas station may hold some answers after a man was found dead inside a nearby home Monday afternoon.

The 60-year-old man's body was found in a house at 73 E. Claybourne Ave. The only thing police will say is that is death is suspicious and they believe foul play is involved.

There is a gas station about 50 feet in front of the home, and there are cameras inside the store. The manager says police asked him to dub surveillance video from the 1:00 hour, though he says he did not see anything suspicious at that time.

Investigators also searched a Saturn parked in a lot across the street from the home where the victim was found. They originally thought it might have been tied to the crime, but found that was not the case.

The investigation began around 1 p.m. after a female relative of the man's called 911 saying there was an assault. A police spokesman could not say if the victim was assaulted or if anyone else was in the home at the time. He also couldn't say if police were looking for anyone.

"Right now they're canvassing the neighborhood, trying to get some details, any details they can -- anything that may have drawn their attention to this house," said Gary Keller, spokesman for the South Salt Lake Police Department.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim yet, pending notification of family.
