SALT LAKE CITY -- Leaders in the Utah Senate have pledged a moratorium on any pro- or anti-gay rights legislation this year.
The pronouncement is in response to rumblings about various bills that would address or restrict gay rights, even after a so-called "truce" was announced last week.
That truce seemed to break down Wednesday after several conservative lawmakers indicated their "traditional family" bills were alive.
Senate leaders cut the tit-for-tat short, saying spending time on statewide implications of Salt Lake City's anti-discrimination ordinances would be a distraction this year.
