SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Lawmakers are scheduled to discuss a bill that would allow more apartment owners to enter so-called "good landlord" programs.
House Bill 22 would expand the programs, which encourage landlords to thoroughly screen rental applicants by running criminal background checks, among other methods.
Five cities currently take part in the program.
A House committee is scheduled to discuss the bill on Thursday. Rep. Gage Froerer, a Huntsville Republican, is the sponsor of the bill.
