(KSL News) Utah's homeless shelters are about to get a big boost from the federal government.
Some $6.8 million will be given to the state in the coming year to fund the programs--an increase of eight percent.
The money will come from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in a series of grants to fund temporary, transitional and permanent housing projects.
In addition, almost $1 million will go to fund emergency shelters in the state.
