WEST VALLEY CITY -- Crews on Tuesday broke ground on the new expansion project of the Valley Fair Mall.

The mall, located near 3600 South and 2700 West in West Valley City, is entering the largest phase of its redevelopment project.

Once completed, the remodeled mall will house 1 million square feet of shopping, food and entertainment space.

Development Director Jonny Arbuckle of Satterfield Helm Management, which owns the mall, said, "The redevelopment of Valley Fair Mall requires a close partnership with local governments, and we believe the next phase of the project will enhance our shopper's experience, as well as strengthen West Valley City."

Valley Fair Mall is scheduled to remain open during construction with a targeted completion date of fall 2010.
