(KSL News) Ask any cancer survivor and she'll tell you that beating the disease is a huge a accomplishment.

Today cancer survivors donned hiking shoes and headed up the hills of the Snowbird ski resort for an event called Survivors at the Summit.

Hikers who made it to the top were treated to a breakfast. They say the trek up the mountain is representative of the many challenges one faces in the battle against cancer, and the sense of triumph after returning to good health.

Many hikers today made the trek in memory of someone who didn't survive the disease.

Proceeds from Survivors at the Summit will go to the Cancer Wellness House.

The house provides free programs, educational resources, and wellness groups to anyone whose life has been affected by cancer.
