SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- If it's off to grandmother's house you go for the holidays or anywhere else, AAA Utah is reminding drivers to brush up on their winter driving skills and be careful.
Vehicles should be in good working order. The AAA also recommends carrying a first aid kit, tire chains and an extra car key because drivers sometimes lock themselves out when putting on chains or dealing with other weather-related problems.
AAA Utah also reminds drivers to slow down in bad weather and leave more space between you and the cars ahead. Anticipate hazards such as ice on bridges and overpasses or the dangers of driving in fog.
If you find yourself in trouble, the AAA suggests pulling to the side of the road, turning on hazard lights or using flares and staying inside your vehicle.
