ROY -- The two suspects in a double homicide in Roy last week made their first courtroom appearance Monday morning.

Prosecutors have charged Jeremy Valdes with aggravated murder for the deaths of Pamela Jeffries and her son, Matthew Roddy.

Valdes' girlfriend, Miranda Statler, is facing car theft and obstruction of justice charges.

Court documents show Valdes told investigators he stabbed Roddy several times and then suffocated Jeffries with a plastic bag.

Valdes said the murders stemmed from a fight over an alleged theft of prescription drugs.

The judge set Dec. 14 for their preliminary hearing.
