Sandra Yi ReportingPolice say that Talovic did not leave behind a suicide note, but investigators still hope to find a motive. The big unanswered question is motive, and police say finding the answer to that is a priority.

Even though the suspect was killed, and there is no one to prosecute, police are conducting the investigation as if they were going to take the case to court.

They will not close the case. They will look at all the evidence, talk to witnesses, and the shooter's family members and friends. Police want answers--not only for the investigation, but for the victims' families.

Det. Robin Snyder, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "We want to find out every single detail about what happened. We want to find out the motive, especially the motive. We need to figure out why this young man did what he did."

Police say, they did a consent search at the Salt Lake City home of Talovic's family. That means the family allowed police to enter their home without a search warrant. They won't comment on what they found but told Eyewitness News that no computer was seized and that video games are not a concern.

A spokesperson for the FBI says that because of the critical nature of the shooting, the FBI is assisting Salt Lake City Police with the investigation. He also says that there is nothing to indicate this was an act of terrorism.

There is also a second investigation going on, which involves the officers who fired their weapons.
