SALT LAKE CITY -- Leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the dates for the Vancouver British Columbia temple open house.

The public will be invited to tour the new temple during the open house, which will run from April 9 to April 24 of next year. The open house will be followed by three dedicatory sessions.

Once the temple is formally dedicated, it will be open to members of the Church who are actively engaged in the faith.

The Vancouver temple was first announced by President Gordon B. Hinckley in May of 2006. The temple's groundbreaking took place in August of 2007. Once completed, it will be the Church's 131st operating temple and the seventh in Canada.

The Vancouver British Columbia Temple will serve approximately 22,000 members of the Church living in British Columbia and northern Washington state. Nearly 180,000 Church members live in Canada.
