WEST HAVEN -- A memorial service was held Saturday for a mother and son who were killed in their Roy mobile home earlier this week.

Family and friends streamed into an LDS chapel near 3600 South and 2700 West to pay their final respects to Pamela Jeffries and Matthew Roddy.

Jeffries and Roddy were killed in their home Nov. 25. Roy police officers discovered their bodies hidden in a closet Monday after neighbors became concerned because they hadn't seen the two for several days.

Relatives told KSL 5 News this week Jeffries and Roddy liked to paint and craft, and had a soft spot for animals. Roddy loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Jeremy Valdes, 33, and Miranda Statler, 26, were arrested earlier this week. Valdes faces two counts of aggravated murder, along with other charges.

Police said the pair may have killed Jeffries and Roddy over prescription drugs.
