SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A toddler died after falling 12 feet from a second-story apartment window onto a sidewalk.
The 21-month-old boy had climbed on a chair near a living room window, and was pushing on the screen while looking outside, Detective Dwayne Baird said.
The bottom of the screen gave way, causing the boy to fall Friday.
He was initially taken Primary Children's Hospital and then transported to the University of Utah Medical Center.
The boy appeared to be stable and recovering, but Baird said the department was told Monday the child had died sometime over the weekend. The date of death was not immediately known, Baird said.
The child's identity has not been released. Baird said the investigation was continuing.
