SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's most popular light display is glowing downtown.
Temple Square took one of the "Lights On" ceremonies Friday night. Its display includes energy-saving LED bulbs on the 70-foot cedar near the square's East Gate.

The Church is planning to switch over to all LED lights in the next few years.
Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Santa Claus flipped the switch on The Gateway's lights. Hundreds of people gathered for that celebration -- sponsored by the Downtown Alliance and Utah Jazz.
Hogle Zoo is waiting until Saturday to turn on its lights. That will happen at 5 p.m.
