(Springville-AP) -- A standoff between a man and police at a Chevron-McDonalds in Springville lasts for about eight hours.

It started around seven p-m last night and ended around three this morning.

Police say the man entered the mini-mart with a handgun and threatened to kill himself. He was apparently upset over a fight he had earlier in the evening with his girlfriend.

The man allowed the clerks to safely exit the store and police spoke to him on the phone while he was inside.

Finally, a robot delivered a note to him from his girlfriend and the man surrendered without incident.

No one was hurt.
