(Salt Lake City-AP) -- If you have to go out today, bring your patience with you and drive slow. That's the word from sheriff's and transportation officials.

The snow plows are out, but officials say they're having a hard time keeping up with the snowfall.

Little Cottonwood Canyon is closed but may re-open later today. Big Cottonwood Canyon opened a short time ago, but there are traffic delays reported.

Utah Highway Patrol reported at least 50 accidents on Interstate-15 between Salt Lake and Davis Counties this morning, mostly slide-offs and without major injuries.

Utah Department of Transportation officials say there are about 250 snow plow drivers out at any given time.

They working on shifts and many of those are trying to take naps in UDOT's maintenance sheds in between shifts.
