Samantha Hayes reporting You may be paying more than you have to for phone service.
KSL looked into a new offer from Qwest, to see if it's for real
Before you pay your next phone bill, take a look at what you are being charged for the little extras, like call waiting and caller ID. You could save 15-20 bucks.
Ryan Sorensen, Qwest Customer: “We get our phone service for 9.99 a month. Basic. Nothing else."
After getting bills around $60, Ryan Sorensen adopted the minimalist approach to phone service.
Ryan Sorensen, Qwest customer “If seems like we add on anything, and promised a certain price, it always ends up being a lot more."
What seems like little add on features, cost a lot individually.
- Caller ID for $6.95
- Voice Mail $6.95
- Call Forward $3.00
- 3-way $3.00 Add on your basic service for $11.03 and Qwest says the average bill is between $30 and 35$-before tax and surcharge. There is a way to knock off about $15 bucks through the Qwest Choice plan- but you'll probably have to call and ask for it. Vince Hancock, Qwest: “For $25.99 you get unlimited local calling, 3 popular features to choose from such as caller id, call waiting, three way calling, and voice mail." Ryan Sorensen, Qwest customer: “I would take caller id, call waiting, and probably 3 way calling." Now if you have 3 of those features seperately, Qwest will not automatically apply that package deal. And as we all know, its up to the individual to look at the bill closely to make sure you are only paying for the services you want.
