SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) -- Students at Granite High Alternative School say they don't like the new name.
One student says the word "alternative" labels them and makes them sound less intelligent and less important.
A petition with 300 signatures asks that the old name be restored.
The school used to be called Central High --- but the name was changed last year when the Granite Board of Education closed some schools and put many programs under one roof at Granite High Alternative.
The school board will consider the petition during a study session next week.
