(KSL News) -- More than 8-thousand volunteers helped search for Elizabeth Smart, 2-years ago.
Wednesday, Elizabeth thanked them in person.
Elizabeth Smart: "I am so happy to be here tonight. So thankful for all the people in our community for everyone pulling together."
Mayor Rocky Anderson accepted the President's Volunteer Service Award, in honor of all of the registered volunteers.
Elizabeth's Uncle also thanked the volunteers, for the hope they brought to the community, in the weeks after Elizabeth's kidnapping.
