SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A preliminary hearing has been set for the man charged in the 2007 shooting death of a Utah State Corrections officer.
The Deseret News in Salt Lake City reported on its Web site Tuesday that the four-day hearing for Curtis Allgier is scheduled for March.
The 30-year-old is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of prison guard Stephen Anderson during a medical visit to University Hospital. Anderson died after being shot with his own gun on June 15, 2007.
Allgier on Tuesday refused to leave his jail cell to go to court over an ongoing issue regarding whether he can be restrained with two sets of handcuffs linked together to ease pain in his shoulders.
A judge previously ruled against letting two pairs of handcuffs be used.
