ENTERPRISE, Utah (AP) -- Firefighters made progress on the Hawkins Fire on Monday, achieving 15 percent containment.
The blaze grew slightly to 35,190 acres, fire information officer Erik DeGroat said Monday.
The blaze, 12 miles southwest of Enterprise in southwestern Utah, and the Pine Park Fire three miles west of the Hawkins Fire were started by lightning Wednesday night and were burning in pinon, juniper, oakbrush and sagebrush.
There were 687 personnel assigned to the Hawkins Fire, with fire helicopters and 21 engines, DeGroat said.
Residents of eight homes evacuated Saturday have been allowed to return home. The road leading to the Enterprise Reservoir remains closed because of the fire.
The Pine Park Fire was burning in an area that had been planned to be burned away. On Sunday firefighters attacked some hot spots. The fire was 70 percent and was monitored from the air on Monday.
Meanwhile, in northern Utah, the Red Bull fire eight miles east of Spanish Fork went from 10 percent containment to 75 percent following Monday rains, said Forest Service spokeswoman Kathy Jo Pollock.
She said full containment was expected by 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The fire had burned 1,781 acres in Spanish Fork Canyon. It was burning north of U.S. Highway 6 between Long Hollow and Sheep Creek, and south of Teat Mountain.
U.S. Highway 6 remained open, but officials urged motorists to slow down to accommodate the safety of 356 firefighters on scene.
