(KSL News) Former Governor Michael Leavitt is bringing his work home today.

Leavitt recognized Kennecotts' Daybreak Home Community in South Jordan for meeting energy efficient standards set by the E-P-A.

Mike Leavitt/ Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency: "Have partnered with the federal government to demonstrate the committment that we're all amking as a country to protecting the environment. To doing exactly what the president has said, clean the air, purify the water, protect the land."

One energy effecient home can minimize the output of thousands of pounds of greenhouse gas every year.

The homeowner can save hundreds of dollars on utilities.
