Amanda Butterfield Reporting The family who lost their little girl in a wreck Sunday up Parley's Canyon talked to Eyewitness News tonight. We learned this is the second child the family has lost in only a couple of months.

We talked to the father. He wasn't in the crash, but his wife Annette and little girl Alexis were.

Annette underwent surgery this afternoon, and has many more operations ahead of her.

The two were on their way home from grocery shopping in town when an SUV flew into their lane.

Timothy Paget/Father: "I'm hanging in there."

Timothy Paget has to hang in there for his wife, who was driving when the SUV slammed into her truck.

Timothy Paget/Father: "She's in critical but stable condition."

Three-year-old Alexis didn't make it.

Timothy Paget/Father: "I love Alexis and I miss her. She was a great girl. She was a cheerful, happy, happy girl."

Timothy also misses his son, Sean, who was laid to rest this past December. He died of a genetic disorder. He was only 17 days old.

Timothy Paget/Father: "We were just getting over our baby Sean when he passed away, and starting to heal there. And in an instant it changes."

It changed Sunday night, when an out-of-control SUV slammed into their truck on I-80. Troopers don't know what caused the driver to lose control. The roads weren't icy, and there were no signs of drugs or alcohol.

Though alive, Annette was hurt badly, with broken bones, severed tendons and nerves, her liver and spleen injured, internal bleeding... the list goes on.

Timothy Paget/Father: "Her arm was severed. They had to amputate it above the elbow."

Not good news for a woman who just accepted a nursing job at a local hospital.

Timothy Paget/Father: "She's having a tough time. After losing two children in three months, she just doesn't want to live right now."

But the couple gathers strength from their friends and family, and for their nine-year-old son, who is now their only living child.

Timothy Paget/Father: "We've gone through a lot before, so we'll just have to start again."

A fund has been set up for the Paget family at any Wells Fargo bank. Donations may be made at any Wells Fargo branch under the name of the "Paget Family Donation Fund."
