SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- School officials say it will be up to principals to decide what to do about students who skipped classes this week to attend a political rally.
District spokesman Jason Olsen says the students will be treated as truants, but school principals will decide how to handle the violations for leaving school for Tuesday's rally.
Administrators from East and West high schools in Salt Lake City say about 80 students attended the rally outside the City-County Building. They protested a number of issues, including the war in Iraq, the passage of Amendment Three and President Bush's education-reform law.
Olsen says right now school officials are trying to identify which students were at the rally.
