SALT LAKE CITY -- A string of witnesses Wednesday denied they severely beat a man accused of kidnapping two young children.

The Deseret News reports the fathers of the two children said they had no recollection of attacking David James Bell or his partner Dan Fair on July 4th of last year. They say they remember going to Bell's home after one of the children's mothers found the 2-year-old and 4-year-old old in Bell's bedroom, but beyond that, they don't remember much.

Prosecutors say Bell kidnapped the children during a party at a neighbor's home.

Bell's attorneys, however, say Bell took the kids to his house after he found them wandering around unsupervised while their parents were busy drinking and partying.

Bell faces felony kidnapping and burglary charges.
