OREM - The owner of the Utah Flash is putting his money where his mouth is.
Brandt Andersen is putting up $100,000 for a one-on-one rematch between Michael Jordan and former Jazzman Bryon Russell.
Jordan made the game winning shot over Bryon Russell in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.
11 years later during Jordan's Hall of Fame speech, he resurrected this connection by telling the story of a conversation he had with Russell in 1994 while he was retired from basketball and playing baseball.
Russell asked Jordan why he quit, saying he could guard Jordan and shut him down.
When Jordan came out of retirement and met the Jazz in the 1996 NBA Finals, Jordan went up to Russell and asked him if he remembered the conversation from 1994.
Jordan then said "...you're about to get your chance!"
Jordan went on to say that that conversation was a motivating factor for him and he called out Russell by saying if he sees him in shorts he's coming after him.
Andersen is offering putting up $100, 000 dollars for Jordan and Russell to play a one-on-one game to 21. The winner will receive the money to put to their favorite charity.
Andersen said he watched MJ's speech and wants vindication and for Russell to have his "day in the sun."
He says he has spoken to Russell and left a message for Jordan through a mutual friend.
He suggests they "lace it up" one more time and suggest the rematch take place during halftime of the Utah Flash's home opener.
