(KSL News) A West Valley police officer who was injured in a car accident last night has been released from the hospital.

Officer Lucas Johnson was driving north on 5600 West, when a red truck pulled out in front of him. Johnson swerved to keep from hitting the truck, then slammed into a retaining wall.

Lt. Mark Van Roosendaal/ West Valley City Police Dept.: "It's always bad when somebody's involved in an accident. Not just an officer, but luckily, that no one else was involved in this accident."

Officer Johnson was flown to the hospital then released this morning. He suffered some bruising, scrapes, and a broken nose. No one else was hurt.
