SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The recycling effort is picking up at the Utah State Fair.
Last year's recycling drive brought in nine tons of cardboard and three tons of plastic that would have otherwise gone to a landfill. That was with 25 blue recycling bins placed around the Utah State Fairgrounds.
This year, fairgoers will have 150 blue bins to dispose of the paper and plastic. The fair is also using recycled paper towels, toilet paper and biodegradable water battles.
Fair director of operations Andy Carlino says it's a challenge, but if everybody pitches in it could be well worthwhile.
