SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Organ donor advocates want Utah's colleges and universities to get students on the list of donors.
The Quest for the Gift of Life Foundation and the Utah Donate Life Coalition planned to give nine Utah schools a check for $1,000 each on Wednesday. The money is to try to get students registered on the organ donor list.
The groups chose Wednesday because of the date -- 9/9/09 -- saying individuals can save up to nine lives through organ donation.
The Quest for the Gift of Life Foundation is also offering more than $30,000 in scholarship money to the school that can get the most registrations during an on-campus donor drive.
