This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

When walking around your beautiful, newly-completed office building, I'm sure one of the last things to cross your mind is worry about the structural integrity of the building. And, indeed, you shouldn't need to worry about it, particularly if the project was completed by Utah Ornamental & Iron Company.

Salt Lake City-based Utah Ornamental & Iron Company, also known as Utah Steel, offers quality commercial and industrial steel fabrications. Company president Ray Bauman tells me his qualified and talented team has the ability to produce any size project from tiny to huge. The company does its best to go the extra mile to ensure customers are pleased with the final product.

I was happy to discover some of the company's major projects statewide such as the LDS Conference Center, the Jewish Community Center, Franklin Covey Field (now Springmobile Ballpark), Park City High School, the Eldon Tanner Building at BYU and Timpanogos Hospital. Utah Ornamental & Iron Company has also completed projects throughout the West Coast and in Korea.

Ray tells me the company was founded by his grandfather and father as a small ornamental iron fabricator. More family members became involved as business picked up until the company moved into a larger facility on Redwood Road. That was in 1960. In 1994, the Baumans and Grandes purchased the shop and equipment from another steel company that doubled their fabrication space. With the purchase of the plant on 900 South in 2004, Utah Ornamental & Iron Company grew to a total of 80,000 square feet of fabrication space.

Ray says no job is too big or too small, and the company is committed to doing its best on every job it completes. Growth has slowed in the current economy, but he is hopeful things will pick up soon.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
