(KSL News) Friends of Lori Hacking held a different kind of New Years party.
The celebration was to honor and remember her life on what would have been her 30th birthday.

The event raised money for the Lori Kay Soares Hacking Memorial Fund. Each year the fund gives money to two women at the University of Utah Business School who have experienced abuse, financial hardship or family challenges.
Friends hope the party will help carry on her legacy.
Natalie Bryce/ Lori's Friend: "The public knows who she is and if we do it in a positive light, maybe we can raise money to help the scholarship, because really that's her legacy now. If we can raise money and help additional people, then that's our goal."
Hacking was murdered by her husband Mark back in 2004.
