ZION NATIONAL PARK (AP) -- The Zion Tunnel on the main highway through Zion National Park will close twice this week for road work and a special event.

On Tuesday the 1.1-mile tunnel will be closed for about 90 minutes in the morning for center line and curb painting.

The tunnel will be closed for three hours on Wednesday evening for a walk through the tunnel to celebrate the national park's centennial. Registration for the walk is full.

Alternate east-west routes are available via Highway 59 from Hurricane, Utah, to Fredonia, Ariz., and Highway 14 from Cedar City to Long Valley Junction and Highway 89.
