WEST VALLEY CITY -- Two workers got stranded on the E-Center's marquee Wednesday.

The men were doing maintenance on the sign when the lift they were on malfunctioned and slammed into the sign.

They climbed out of the lift and onto the sign. Then they flagged down a West Valley firefighter nearby, who called in his colleagues to help.

After about 15 minutes, the workers were back on solid ground.

Fire officials aren't sure what caused the lift to malfunction in the first place.

They estimate it will take about $10,000 to fix the sign.
