RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- Bond has been set at $7,500 for a suspect in a five-hour standoff at a Rapid City motel.
Fifty-five-year-old Richard Myers of Salt Lake City is charged with misdemeanor failure to vacate and obstructing.
Police say Myers said he had a weapon and refused to leave the motel after being evicted July 26. He told motel staff and police that he was holding a small child in the room, but that turned out not to be true.
Authorities eventually used pepper spray and force to get Myers out of the room. He was treated at a local hospital for what police said were self-inflicted injuries.
