SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A bank robbery suspect turned himself in after seeing his picture on the news.

South Salt Lake police say Michael Dawes, 37, walked into the Salt Lake County Jail Tuesday morning and told the jail staff he had robbed the bank on 3300 S. State Street.

Dawes was arrested on two charges. He was charged with aggravated robbery for the Wells Fargo Bank robbery and strong arm robbery for trying to steal a woman's vehicle after he left the bank.

South Salt Lake police say the robbery attempt happened around 9:15 a.m. Monday at 70 E. 3300 South.
