SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A man tried to rob a bank and steal a car Monday morning but wasn't successful at either.

South Salt Lake police say a man entered the Wells Fargo bank at 70 E. 3300 South around 9:15 a.m. and handed a teller a note saying he had a gun. He demanded she hand over money. She tripped the alarm and the man left.

Once outside, he tried to grab a woman out of her car and take the vehicle. However, she put up a fight, so the would-be robber took off on foot.

Police are now looking for the suspect.
