PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota corrections officials say a state inmate who escaped from a prison farm more than 10 years ago has been apprehended in Utah.
Michael McAfee was taken into custody on Tuesday in Salt Lake City. The details of his arrest were not immediately available.
McAfee was assigned to work at the West Farm program outside of Sioux Falls when he fled in a state vehicle on May 18, 1999. The vehicle was later recovered in Omaha, Neb.
At the time of his escape, McAfee was serving a 10-year sentence for grand theft in Minnehaha County.
