KEARNS -- Young lifeguards from all over the state came out to the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center Saturday for the annual Lifeguard Games.

The games are designed to help young lifeguards freshen up their skills. They were faced with "life-threatening" scenarios, like saving a fake victim from drowning, and judged on their performance.

Lifeguard Jon Robb said, "Every time I think I'm doing something right, there is always one little step I forget, so it's been great practice being out here."

Lifeguards from pools all over Utah competed in the games. The judges awarded points for how well the lifeguards followed procedure.

The winning team went home with a trophy and hopefully, some confidence.
