MOAB, Utah (AP) -- Authorities say they found a man frozen to death this week in the southern Utah mountains.
Deputies say 21-year-old Christopher Appleby and three of his friends went rabbit hunting in the La Sal Mountains on Tuesday. But when the group decided to head home, officers say their vehicle stalled and wouldn't restart.
Authorities say the four began walking down Blackridge Canyon to Moab when they became separated in the dark. However, two of them made it back by morning and called police.
Deputies say Appleby's body was found on Wednesday, just nearly 100 yards from the fourth man, who managed to survive the night by digging a snow shelter.
