OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- The Ogden Preparatory Academy has been named the state's Charter School of the Year.
The award from the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools was based on academic achievement, parent involvement and community service. Utah had 67 charter schools in operation last year.
All students at Ogden Preparatory Academy, which opened in 2003, take classes in both Spanish and English.
Enrollment at the school, which offers kindergarten through ninth grade, is close to 600. School Principal Kathy Thornburg says the school is planning to add more sections and accommodate more students beginning the 2010-11 year.
