AMERICAN FORK -- American Fork firefighters responded to the Dan W. Peterson school on the report a fire inside the school.

The call came in about 11:30 Tuesday morning of a small fire in the school's laundry room, located on the south end of the building at 169 N. 1100 East. The school is operated by the Alpine School District and focuses on helping students with disabilities.

No flames were visible and it appears smoke damage was also very limited.

Students were evacuated to nearby Barratt Elementary at 168 N. 900 East and everyone was accounted for even before firefighters arrived on the scene.

Teachers, staff and students are expected to be allowed to return to the school within the hour.

Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
