John Hollenhorst ReportingNow that everyone has holiday turkey under their belts and a couple of days' worth of leftovers, it's time for millions of people to head for home. That makes this one of the busiest times of year for travel.

Everything is running surprisingly smooth at the airport. There have been no major problems as far as we can tell. That's in spite of the fact that 25 million people are flying over the Thanksgiving season. That estimate is from the Transportation Security Administration.

Things were very busy in Salt Lake this morning. This afternoon nearly all flights were approximately on time, and everything seemed very relaxed during the lull this afternoon.

Kathleen Dunn, BYU Student: "Unusually mild I think compared to last year, the holiday last year."

One thing that probably dampened things a little bit is poor snow in the mountains. The people who arrange rides to the ski resorts say it's been exceptionally slow.

Raquel Ribald, Ground Transportation: "We expected a lot more customers a lot more people coming in . It's been really, really slow, really, really dead."

AAA says more than 38-million Americans traveled at least 50 miles from home this past week; the figure here in Utah was about 300-thousand.
