SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A man who tried to run from a deputy is critically injured after he crashed his car.
Authorities say it started about 1:30 Friday morning when the man stopped his car at a light near 4500 South and 500 West and stayed there. A deputy pulled up behind him and got out to check what was going on. The driver took off.
The deputy followed but called off the chase just before the driver crashed into a parked car and rolled his vehicle.
Deputies don't know why he stopped in the first place or why he ran.
