It's a sad end to a week-long search for a missing woman.
Kimberly Turney has been missing since last week. Last night, authorities confirmed her family and friends' worst fears.
Sources are telling us that a body was found about half a mile down Redwash Road. Authorities say it's the body of Kimberly Turney, and that she was found on one of the hilltops.
She'd gone missing about a week ago today. Local reports indicate a family member found Turney's body not far from where her burnt car was discovered earlier.
Turney has two young sons, ages six and one. Earlier this week Turney's friend told us that she had been acting strangely up until she disappeared.
Niki Redmond/ Victim's Friend/Tuesday: "Not been herself in the sense of like doing her hair and normal things, which is something Kim always does, gets u pin the morning and does her hair. She hasn't been doing those things. She's looking really run down and tired and seemed really depressed."
Family and friends say Turney was in an abusive relationship. Our search of court records backs that up. Turney filed a protective order against her live-in boyfriend in September, but had it dismissed in October.
Detectives spoke with the boyfriend early in the search, but we don't know if they've spoken to him since the body was found yesterday.
This case also took a tragic turn after a helicopter searching for Turney crashed last Tuesday. Detective Kevin Orr died from his injuries in the wreck.
Our crew is in Jensen and expecting to meet with detectives later this morning. Right now, they're not confirming much at all. They are not calling this a murder. They are just saying a body has been found.
