BOUNTIFUL -- A Centerville City Councilwoman could face charges in connection with a crash that sent a 10-year-old boy to the hospital.

Police say Sherri Lyn Lindstrom was driving when she hit the boy, who was riding his skateboard in a crosswalk, Friday evening in Bountiful.

"She glanced over at the dog, and then glanced back up, saw the boy, tried to swerve," said Bountiful police Lt. Randy Pickett

The charges Lindstrom could face include failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian and improper lookout.

Lindstrom didn't immediately respond to messages from KSL seeking comment but tells the Ogden Standard Examiner she's deeply sorry for what happened.

The boy suffered head injuries and is currently in the hospital in stable but critical condition.
