SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Salt Lake County prosecutor who was reinstated in his job last month is appealing the demotion that came at the same time.
A review panel in April reinstated Kent Morgan, who was fired last year for allegedly leaking confidential information in a case involving an escort service.
But Morgan was to be demoted from assistant division administrator to line prosecutor. He also was denied back pay for five of the 13 months between his firing and reinstatement.
Now Morgan is seeking a review of that decision in 3rd District Court. He says the demotion and withheld back pay amount to punishment for behavior outside the allegations in the county's original termination notice and that the county did not follow proper firing procedure.
