SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake Tribune has laid off three employees as part of newsroom restructuring.
Editor Nancy Conway says improved technology eliminated the need for the positions. In a story on its Web site Wednesday, the paper says a graphic designer with 24 years of experience was let go, along with a Web site technician who had been with the paper 22 years and an administrative assistant to Conway who had worked at the paper for 16 months.
Conway says no additional layoffs are expected.
The Salt Lake Tribune is the city's largest daily newspaper, with an average daily circulation of about 118,450.
W. Dean Singleton, the chief executive and vice chairman of Media News, is its publisher. Singleton is also chairman of The Associated Press.
