HIGHLAND -- A group of mini truck owners is hoping cities will give them a chance to drive on the road.
Linda Pehrson, in Alpine, bought a Suzuki mini truck to run errands and get groceries "It gets 50 miles to the gallon," she said.
The trucks are licensed by the state and considered street legal, but they're also classified as a type of ATV, and Highland City doesn't allow any ATVs on the road.
Now Pehrson and other mini truck owners are trying to convince Highland City to change its ordinance. She says a lot of smaller vehicles are already on the road. "Mini cars, which are much smaller than our car," she said.
Highland City leaders have expressed concern that if they allow the trucks, other types of ATVs could be on the road. So for now, Pehrson says her truck is landlocked.
