(KSL News) -- Cold temperatures and slick roads caused major delays this morning for drivers. Those ingredients created the perfect conditions for black ice, which caused plenty of accidents in Salt Lake and Utah counties.
Several cars were involved in crashes in Lehi. Most of the accidents happened near the Main Street exit off Interstate 15, and wrecks dotted areas near Thanksgiving Point.
In one of the crashes, a driver was thrown from her car. A medical helicopter flew her to the hospital.
Things weren't much better in Salt Lake County. A number of wrecks closed Bangerter Highway for about an hour. The crashes happened in the south end of the valley between I -15 and Redwood Road.
Other crashes filled northbound I -15 near the I -80 overpass on the west side. On the east side, a crash involving five cars on northbound I -215 created quite a mess. It happened at 900 East.
The Utah Highway Patrol says several people were injured in these accidents, but no one died.
